Digital Defiance is an Open Source Engineering Guild which seeks to enable Open Source developers by providing them with the Software and Hardware resources they need.
Digital Defiance has a very flexible structure and offers several ways to be involved.
Advisory – If you are a seasoned engineer, consider joining as an Advisory Member who serves as a mentor for other members. You can just hang out in the Discord and lend your insights to other members, or you can formally mentor other members. Advisory members are able to use most guild resources on an as-needed basis.
Research Partner – If you are a researcher contributing to Open Source, we can provide you with the resources you need. A research partner is entitled to all of the resources we have available.
Contributor – If you are an Open Source contributor, consider doing your work under the Digital Defiance umbrella and receive access to guild resources on an as-needed basis.
Social – If you are interested in Open Source, but maybe not an active contributor, you’re welcome to hang out in our Discord and attend meetings to be a part of Digital Defiance as a Social Member. Social members can still receive some guild resources, such as the ability to purchase licenses at a discount by donating to cover our costs.
You may find you fit into multiple roles, which is wonderful and fully supported. Nothing is set in stone and we are very flexible on participation. Just join us and have fun being a part of the Open Source community.
Jessica Mulein's dedication to technology began at the tender age of 12, setting the foundation for her future endeavors. In 1995, she co-founded Silicon Connections, an Internet Service Provider that remains active under the leadership of her co-founder. Jessica's career path led her to Microsoft, marking a notable chapter in her professional journey. Parallel to this, her unwavering commitment to Open Source inspired the establishment of Digital Defiance in 2022, which was incorporated in 2023. Even in its early stages, Digital Defiance is actively exploring promising opportunities, such as corporate matching and giving programs. Today, alongside her role at Microsoft, Jessica provides strategic direction as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Digital Defiance.
